Puerta Real in Granada and Acera del Darro |
Puerta Real is one area that could be considered modern, but also has its traditional charm, particularly
the Plaza de Mariana Pineda, with the Office of Tourism, and the Plaza del Campillo with its summer terraces.
Throughout the area of Puerta Real there are plenty of bars and restaurants.
If your stay in the capital coincides with the celebration of the
patronal feasts, do not miss the Iglesia de Nuestra
Señora de las Angustias (Church of Our Lady of Sorrows), to see how the faithful take flowers as offerings to the Virgin.
This takes place every 15 September and is a really beautiful and emotional event,
as the entire church facade is decked with the floral offerings.
