There are several top-tier schools in Sierra Nevada that provide lessons to those keen on mastering skiing, skiing, snowboarding, slalom, or telemark styles.


We've selected high quality schools English-speaking ski instructors who are either native or fluent in English and other languages.

Instructors also conduct classes in Spanish, French, Swedish, Polish, and German, and evening classes are available. Typically, ski schools offer a minimum of two-hour lessons.

You can choose among a wide variety of lessons: group lessons, individual lessons and ski tours are available for children and adults.

British Ski Center

The British Ski Center was formed in 2002 and is dedicated to the English-speaking clientele.

The owners, Giles and Jonathan, have lived and taught in Sierra Nevada for over 25 years. All instructors are either native or fluent in English.

They have two offices: One in the Plaza de Andalucia at Intersport Rio Sport (next to the Tia Maria restaurant).

The other is in Borreguiles (at the top of the Al-Andalus gondola) next to the "Restaurante Borreguiles" where they meet you for your lessons.

They are also a registered booking agent who will assist you in sourcing suitable accommodation and other essential services including lift pass prebooking, equipment rental, resort transfers (private taxis, coaches for larger parties) and childcare options at the creche and "Dreamland" facilities.

Tuition options range from standard private lessons and ski school groups to more bespoke family orientated sessions, GCSE/A-Level assessments, instructor preparation courses and guiding.

Private lessons 2 hours: Ski or Snowboard, 1 person - 117 euros; 2 people - 134 euros;, each extra person add 12 euros.

Private lessons 3 hours: Ski or Snowboard, 1 person - 175 euros; 2 people - 201 euros;, each extra person add 18 euros.

Prices are lower in February (half-term).

English Ski School

English Ski School is a ski and snowboard school formed in 2018.

The teachers Georgina and Nathan each have more than 15 seasons' teaching experience in both Sierra Nevada, Spain and Queenstown, New Zealand.

All lessons are taught in English by native or fluent speakers, unless otherwise requested. Alternative languages available are Spanish, Polish, Swedish, Russian & French.

They offer both private ski and snowboard lessons and in small groups of family and friends, to all ages and abilities.

You can also pre-purchase your lift passes through their registered agency and have them delivered to their base in the Skisol rental shop in the main square to collect when you organise your equipment.

At Skisol you will receive a 10% discount on your equipment rental and children will have free use of a helmet.

▸ 2h lessons: 1 person - 112 euros, 2 people - 124 euros, each extra person add 10 euros.

▸ 3h lessons (half day): 1 person - 168 euros, 2 people - 186 euros, each extra person add 15 euros.

Swedish Ski School

This is a small ski and snowboard school with mostly Scandinavian instructors.

They have a long snow tradition and very experienced and qualified instructors, who will make sure you get the most out of your time.

Swedish teaching and methodology is of world class.

Their Swedish instructors can teach in English, Swedish and Spanish, since they can speak at least three languages fluently. Some of their instructors are native teachers from the UK.

Spanish School in Sierra Nevada

The Escuela Española (Spanish School) ski school was founded in 1962. It's the oldest in Sierra Nevada, with over 60 years of teaching people to enjoy the snow.

It has several offices in Borreguiles and Pradollano where you can take ski lessons or rent your ski equipment.

Courses offered by the ski school: skiing, snowboarding, climbing, downhill skiing, ski touring, freeride and freestyle, snowshoeing and telemark skiing (also available for disabled skiers).

The course fee depends on how many students there are in the group, the more students the cheaper the class per student.

They have teachers who speak fluent English.

Spanish School Prices

An individual class 2 hours costs 115 euros; 130 euros for 2 people.

If the group consists of 4 students, for example, the class costs 78 euros/hour, aproximtely 20 euros per student, which works out much cheaper.

The weekly 15-hour skiing or snowboarding courses cost about 145 euros.
