Diving in La Herradura - Dive Centres, How to Choose, Prices and Types of Courses
SCUBA diving goes beyond snorkeling, allowing you to get to know marine life that few people have seen.
The town La Herradura has the richest and prettiest seabed in the province of Granada.
Here you can find the natural area of Cerro Gordo. It is a protected area of about 12 km2 of coastline with numerous caves, cliffs and ravines.
In La Herradura there are 5 companies that offer diving courses. Apart from these companies there are others that offer professional diving courses, such as Pro Buceo, where they prepare you for work below surface of water: install, remove or repair structures and equipment.
Types of CoursesThere is a great variety of diving courses in La Herradura, here we list the main ones, which have the highest demand. We explain the difference between these courses so you can choose the most suitable option for you.
1. BaptismIf you want to find out if you like diving and experience the sensation of breathing underwater, you can try a baptism before paying more expensive courses.
Each student is under the care of qualified instructor who will hold your tank, control the dive and air consumption.
Baptism does not certify you as a diver, nor is it a course.
2. Scuba Diving CourseIt is an introductory course that certifies you as a diver and that allows you to dive up to 12 meters deep anywhere in the world, but you can not dive alone, you must be accompanied by a PADI instructor.
Includes: student's kit, theoretical and practical classes in confined and open water, rental of the complete equipment and insurance.
3. Open Water Diving CourseIt is also a basic course, starting from scratch. It enables you to dive to a depth of 12-30 meters.
Unlike the Scuba Diver course, after this course you can dive anywhere in the world without the need to be accompanied by an instructor.
Includes: theory, practice in confined water, open water dives, diving equipment and insurance.
What the Classes Include, ModulesIn the theory part the instructors will explain a bit of physics, how the water affects us, how the equipment works, how we should move, etc ...
And the practical part is divided into two: confined water and open water.
In the confined water a series of exercises are carried out to learn how to control the equipment and to feel comfortable underwater.
This part (in confined water) does not necessarily have to be in a pool, it can also be in the sea, under the same conditions of depth, visibility and water tranquility as in a swimming pool.
