How to Go from Granada to Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada has very good connections by road. Mountains are located in the southeast of Granada and the approximate distance from Granada to Sierra Nevada is 21 km.

In relation to the main Spanish cities the distances are: 160 kilometers to Málaga, 462 kilometers to Madrid and 286 kilometers to Seville.

The Granada airport is approx. 42 km and Malaga airport 180 km from Sierra Nevada.

You can get from Granada to Sierra Nevada by car, by the highest road in Europe, the duration of the trip is between 30-40 minutes, if there is not much traffic. You can also go to Sierra Nevada by bus. It takes approx. 1 hour to get to Sierra Nevada.

There are also internal buses that will help you to move between the different areas of Sierra Nevada ski station.

How to Go to Sierra Nevada by Car

- From E-902/A-44 motorway take exit 132 to Ronda Sur/Sierra Nevada/Alhambra and than another exit to A-395 motorway.

- In the tunnels keep right to take A-395 in the direction Sierra Nevada/Pinos Genil. Be careful, the left lane is for The Alhambra and Granada.

- After driving for about 21 km, there is a detour, you must follow the A-395. Be careful, your GPS can tell you turn left (sign Guejar Sierra) to take A-4025. You can reach Sierra Nevada by A-4025 as well but it is a long and more difficult route.

- Afeter driving for about 5 miles you will see the ski resort entrance signs and a roundabout.

- If you go straight you will arrive to the center of the ski station: Pradollano, the Plaza de Andalucia and the ski lifts. At the entrance to the station there is parking Plaza de Andalucia.

- However, if you need to access the youth hostel you have to turn left and continue driving up hill until your reach one of the parkings From there you there is also access to the ski station by Virgen de las Nieves lift.

How to Go to Sierra Nevada by Public Transport

The company that provides Granada - Sierra Nevada bus services is Autocares Bonal, leaving from the Granada bus station located in the north of Granada, Jaen Road.

To return to Granada you can take the bus in the Pradollano, from Monday to Friday and holidays: 9:00 h, 16:00 h and 18:00 h, Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 h, 13:00 h, 16:00 h, 18:00 h

Logically, it is allowed to bring skis and other sports equipment on this bus.
