Until s. XVII century it was one of the most important districts of Granada where were celebrated
many of important festivals in Granada.
Triumph Gardens in Granada was a large Arab cemetery, founded in the s. XIII.
The cemetery was enclosed by a strong wall and there was a tower at the entrance of each of the access roads.
On the one side the Triumph joined the compound to the

fortifications of the Albaicin and on the other, linked with the outside of Granada.

Through the centuries the population grew and many buildings rose in the early s. XVI, was
urbanized whole right side of the Triumph.
Until s. XVII century it was one of the most important districts of Granada where were celebrated
many of important festivals in Granada.
During the French rule in Triunfo hanged and shot many Spanish patriots
and remained a place of public executions until 1840.

In 1856, Mayor D. Manuel Gadea
and Subiza transformed the filthy place in a small park, with gardens and fountains.
The opening of the Gran Via de Colon, and its subsequent extension, changed the face of Triumph.

The architect Antonio Flores destroyed the gardens of Triumph, triumph, leaving only
isolated column of the monument to the Virgin until it was moved in 1960.
The new Triumph gardens were created on the place that occupied the old Plaza de Toros.
